Workshop on “Good Touch, Bad Touch”
In September 2024, the Queer Education Initiative Foundation (QEIF) conducted a workshop at Niveda Vidya Mandir in Noida, focused on educating children about safety, consent, and discrimination. The session engaged around 50 children, ranging from 8 to 15 years old, many of whom had prior knowledge of the concepts of good and bad touch.
During the workshop, the QEIF team reinforced the understanding of good and bad touch and expanded the discussion to include the critical concept of consent. In addition, the children participated in a hands-on exercise where they were introduced to the child helpline number. The team conducted a front desk check, ensuring the children knew how to use the number in real-life situations and understood that they should not hesitate to seek help when needed.
The session also covered the topic of discrimination, teaching the children how it manifests in their environment and the importance of fostering respect and inclusivity.
The workshop concluded with the children receiving treats as a token of appreciation for their active participation and attentiveness throughout the session.
